Fire Destroys Home In South Austin
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire destroyed a home in the South Austin neighborhood Thursday morning, but no one was hurt.
The fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. in a 2 1/2 story home at 140 N. Long Ave. By 9 a.m., it was too dangerous for crews to go inside the building so firefighters were using three hoses on the fire, and fighting it from the outside of the structure, Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said.
By 9:15 a.m., about 35 firefighters had the fire at 140 N. Long Ave. under control, MacGregor said.
No one was injured in the fire.
It was unclear whether anyone was inside at the time the fire started.
