Fire Destroys Historic Park District Building
GLENVIEW, Ill. (WBBM) - Fire destroyed the Glenview Park District Building at 1100 Roosevelt Road overnight, said a park district official.
Glenview Park District Executive Director Chuck Balling said the building is roughly 100 years old.

"It's a sad day. The building has been operated by the park district since 1953, and it's the original location of the Swain Nursery in Glenview."
Balling said after the building was the Swain Nursery, the greenhouse space was turned over to bombsight-making operations during World War II. Balling. The fire started around midnight and left the walls standing. He says the roof is gone.
No injuries were reported. Several pickups and other vehicles were kept at the facility, as well as other equipment and supplies.
Balling's preliminary damage estimate: $1 million. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
