Subway Fire A False Alarm, Red Line Disrupted
UPDATED: 12/07/10 8:17 a.m.
CHICAGO (STMW/WBBM) - Subway service on the CTA's Red Line on the Near North Side was disrupted by report of a fire that turned out to be a false alarm.
Firefighters received reports about 7 a.m. of a fire in a subway tunnel near 1276 N. Clybourn Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado. That's just north of Division Street.
The reports turned out to be unfounded, according to Rosado.
The response disrupted Red Line service. Rail traffic was temporarily diverted to the Brown Line elevated tracks.
