Fire Breaks Out In West Side Apartment Building
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire broke out Thursday morning in a residential building on the city's West Side.
CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports just after 6 a.m., fire crews were on the roof of the building at 211 N. LaCrosse Ave., close to Cicero Avenue and Lake Street, in an effort to bring the flames under control.
The fire broke out on the first floor and later spread to the second floor. As of around 6:05 a.m., flames were still shooting from one space in the roof, and from a window.
A building next door was also threatened by the fire, as it is separated from the burning structure only by a narrow opening.
No one was injured in the fire. Three ambulances were dispatched, but they ended up being used as warming spaces.
By 6:18 a.m., the fire was out, but Cicero Avenue remained closed between Fulton and Lake streets to accommodate fire crews.
