Fire Sweeps Through Logan Square House
UPDATED 12/07/10 7:27 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Emergency crews battled a blaze that started early Tuesday and spread throughout a Logan Square neighborhood building.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 2821 N. Central Park Avenue about 5:45 a.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said.
Flames spread throughout the two-and-a-half story frame structure, which measures 25 feet by 50 feet, he said. A still-and-box alarm was called for the blaze.
The burning house was vacant. The Fire Department evacuated the home next door, where two elderly people live.
No injuries were reported. It is unclear whether the elderly couple's home was damaged.
CBS 2's Don Schwenneker reported Central Park Avenue was closed between Diversey and Milwaukee avenues while crews fight the fire.
