Fire Breaks Out In LaSalle Street Building

CHICAGO (CBS) - A small fire in a Loop high-rise was quickly extinguished Wednesday afternoon.
A still-and-box alarm was called about 1 p.m. for a fire on the 17th floor of a building at 208 S. LaSalle St., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Rich Rosado.
The fire was out as of about 1:25 p.m., no injuries have been reported and no one has had to be taken to a hospital, Rosado said. Numerous pieces of fire equipment and police personnel were at the scene and traffic was temporarily rerouted.
The fire was reportedly a small electrical fire, according to unconfirmed dispatch reports.
The building at 208 S. LaSalle St. was designed by Daniel Burnham, the legendary creator of the Plan for Chicago. It was completed in 1911.
The building housed the Continental and Commercial National Bank for many years, but is now being converted into a new Marriott Hotel.
