Fire Breaks Out In Home Across From Riverside Brookfield High School
BROOKFIELD, Ill. (CBS) -- A fire broke out early Tuesday in a house in Brookfield, directly across the street from Riverside Brookfield High School.
The fire broke sometime before 6 a.m. in a house on Ridgewood Road, between 1st Avenue and Golf Road.
Heavy fire swept through the rear of the two-story, wood-frame house. Charred rooftop vents along the ridgeline of the roof also indicated heavy smoke and fire conditions in the attic, CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports.
Firefighters were on the roof after most of the fire was out, examining the roof vents, checking the chimney, and looking in void spaces to ensure that no flames remained.
They also used thermal imaging cameras to make sure there was no fire still in the walls.
The house is located directly across the road from Riverside Brookfield High, which is located at 160 Ridgewood Rd.
