Fire Breaks Out On Rooftop Deck At East Lakeview Condo Building
UPDATED 04/09/12 6:34 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- There were some scary moments over the weekend, as flames covered the roof of a condo building in the East Lakeview neighborhood.
The fire was reported around 5:37 p.m. Sunday in the roof of the 1920s-era condo building at the northwest corner of Briar Place and Sheridan Road. The building has multiple addresses – 400-408-410 W. Briar Pl. and 3140-3144 N. Sheridan Rd.
When firefighters arrived at a unit in the building, they found a fire confined to a roof decking and a utility closet, Fire Media Affairs said, adding that the fire did not spread to inside the building.
But cell phone video from witness Scott Welty showed intense flames shooting from the roof.
Still, firefighters had the blaze under control in 30 minutes.
No one was injured in the fire.
