Fire Breaks Out At Irving Park Road Auto Battery Plant
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire broke out Monday afternoon at a former auto battery plant in the St. Ben's neighborhood.
The fire broke out at the vacant building that formerly housed the Illinois Battery Manufacturing Company, at 2543 W. Irving Park Rd.

A related business, Illinois Battery Specialists, is located across the street at 2456 W. Irving Park Rd. The owner speculated the fire was electrical in nature, given the age of the building.
A Level 1 Hazardous Materials alarm was also called as a precaution, fire officials said.
The fire was out by just before 2 p.m. Monday. There were no injuries or hospitalizations, fire officials said.
