The fire started Thursday morning at Cars-R-Us Auto Sales, 3115 N. Cicero Ave. Photos from the scene showed a ball of fire and a thick plume of black smoke apparently billowing from a wood frame building that houses the office of the dealership.
No one was inside at the time, witnesses said.
It was not immediately learned whether any of the cars were damaged, although in the photos by witnesses David Sweis and Tim Cilio, the cars appeared to be safely out of the way.
Further details and information about the cause of the fire were not immediately available Thursday afternoon.
Much like Western Avenue three miles to the east, large stretch of Cicero Avenue are known for chain link fence-enclosed used car dealerships.
