Fight Over Woman In Lincoln Square Lands Texas Man In Jail
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is behind bars Wednesday, after a weekend brawl in the Lincoln Square neighborhood left a woman and her boyfriend hospitalized.
Jorge Hernandez, 28, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery in a public place, police said.
The incident started late Saturday when Hernandez, of Irving, Texas, allegedly grabbed the woman's buttocks in the 4500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to a police report.
The woman's boyfriend found out, confronted Hernandez and they began to fight. During the brawl, Hernandez allegedly punched the woman and stabbed her boyfriend in the chest, the report said.
The block where the fight happened is among the busiest in Lincoln Square, and includes the Old Town School of Folk Music and several bars that keep people on the streets late into the night.
The man who was stabbed was being treated at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The woman suffered a swollen left eye and was taken to the same hospital.
Hernandez was arrested at 11:03 p.m. Saturday and taken to the Belmont District police station to be processed. He was transferred to Thorek Memorial Hospital for injuries he suffered during the fight, the report said.
Hernandez was booked into Cook County Jail on Monday after being ordered held on $200,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.
