Field Museum To Close Sunday, Monday During NATO Summit
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Field Museum as decided to join the other institutions on the Museum Campus and close on Sunday and Monday for the NATO Summit.
At first, the Field said it would be closed on Sunday, but open on Monday. However, citing "information from NATO officials, the city, and public transportation officials" the museum will close both days. The Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium--along with the Art Institute--earlier decided to close Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The Field says it will be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Security officials plan to close the northern museum campus, starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The summit is being held just to the south at McCormick Place.
The Field is also holding a NATO-related dinner on Sunday night, while President Obama is holding a dinner with other heads of state at Soldier Field.
There is also a NATO event planned for the Art Institute on Saturday night.
Sensing an opportunity, the Museum of Science and Industry, located well south of the summit in Hyde Park, is offering a buy one-get one deal.
Visitors at the Museum of Science and Industry can get one free general admission pass with the purchase of a $15 adult ticket on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
