Few Clouds, But Cool Temperatures For Rest Of Day
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Clouds will be few Tuesday, but temperatures will remain cool enough to require a jacket all day.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says as of 11:20 a.m., it was 49 degrees at Midway International Airport and 51 at O'Hare. The cool spot was Waukegan, with 46 degrees, while the warmest temperature was seen in Joliet and Kankakee, where the mercury topped out at 54.
A ridge of high pressure continues to hover over the area, and is keeping conditions dry and cool. The high for the day is 55 degrees near the lake and 57 degrees in some inland areas, followed by an overnight low of 44 degrees with partly cloudy skies.
Everything changes Wednesday, when a warm front will sweep in from the west and drive the temperature up close to 70 degrees – or even above 70 in some areas.
But a new cold front enters the picture Wednesday evening, bringing a chance of rain. The possibility of rain will linger on Thursday, when the high will drop to 59, and Friday, when the high is only 53.
The weekend is expected to be sunny, but you'll need your jacket again. The high for Saturday is 52 and Sunday 55. On Monday of next week, the high is 56.
