Felon Tries To Sell Gun On Facebook, Gets Robbed
JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) - A convicted felon on parole who was trying to sell a gun on Facebook was robbed with it by four suspects, landing all five of them behind bars Monday night in Joliet.
The incident occurred about 9:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Elizabeth Street, according to Joliet police Lt. Jeff Allbert.
The suspect was advertising on his Facebook page that he had a .38 revolver he wanted to sell. When a man responded, he told him to "come on over,'' Allbert said.
But while showing him the loaded gun inside a car, the prospective buyer robbed and "jumped him," Allbert said.
"The guy cocks the hammer, pointed the gun at him and said: 'Get the f--- out of the car,''' and fled, Allbert said.
The "victim" called the police to report the robbery and officers found he is a convicted felon on parole, according to the lieutenant.
On the east side of town, police found the car with the other four suspects inside and all five were arrested, Allbert said.
Charges and their identities were not immediately available.
