Feeling The Pressure

They made a movie about it. And it's a regularly repeated cliche about the NFL. Any team can win on any given Sunday.

While most weeks, that notion acts as a motivator for players and coaches. Both favorites and underdogs are motivated by it to either avoid or pull an upset. However, for the Bears this week that might actually be adding pressure to Lovie Smith's coaching staff and his players.

"I think there's a tremendous amount of pressure for them to win this game [against the Bills]," Brad Biggs said on Friday's Mully and Hanley Show. "In talking to some people up at Halas Hall, the McCaskeys were upset after the loss to the Redskins."

"There were some people who were very unhappy with that loss, which was the second home loss to an average to mediocre NFC opponent in a row...So I think, from the top down there's some real pressure to win this week. And I think it goes far beyond not wanting to be the first team to lose to the winless Buffalo Bills."

After starting the season with three victories, including a 20-17 win over the Packers, the Bears have dropped three of their last four. These last four games have brought to the surface so glaring weaknesses, mainly on offense. But, the ability to make mistakes might be quickly fading for the players and coaches.

"There's no more room for error for the Bears," Biggs said. "And the pressure is on. I'm telling you, the coaches are feeling it. The players are feeling it. So I have a pretty good feeling that they will respond well to this [pressure] against the Bills."
