Feds Converge On Home Of Missing Eye Doc In Munster, Ind.
MUNSTER, Ind. (CBS/WBBM) – FBI officials on Friday were at the home of a Munster, Ind. eye doctor who disappeared with little trace more than a month ago.
FBI agents and evidence technicians were at the home of Dr. Promila Mehta-Paul for several hours. Technicians were also seen entering a home across the street.
If there are new developments in the case, police aren't saying so. They tell Newsradio 780 that they're "taking another look."
Paul, 70, was reported missing after she didn't arrive for work at her clinic on Kennedy Avenue in Highland, Ind. on March 22.
She and her ex-husband have been divorced since 1995, but were still fighting over assets in court at the time she disappeared. And her 38-year-old son, who had been staying with the doctor before she disappeared, has been arrested for battery, public intoxication and DUI.
Neighbor Dale Mendoza described Paul as a "lovely lady."
"I hope everything goes well for this family," he told CBS 2's Pamela Jones. "I think there's something that's going to be resolved."
An FBI spokesperson says the Lake County, Ind. Prosecutor's Office and Munster police asked for assistance from the federal agency.
