Feds: Businessman Tried To Ship Banned Infrared Camera To Pakistan
(CBS) -- A Bolingbrook businessman faces a decade in prison and a $1 million fine for allegedly trying to ship an infrared camera to Pakistan.
Bilal Ahmed, 33, is free on $100,000 bond and charged with altering paperwork so he could ship the infrared camera to Pakistan.
The manufacturer says the FLIR HRC U unit can spot an infiltrator 12 miles away in the dark and tell what sort of a weapon he's carrying.
Harvard's Belfer center says the U.S. has given Pakistan $1.6 billion in military aid as well as some weaponry. But export of the infrared camera is banned at this time.
