FBI Seeks Fugitive Child Sex Assault Suspect
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The FBI is seeking the help of the public in finding a former Southwest Side man accused in the 2003 sexual assault of three children.
Hugo Sanchez, 35, was last known to live at 5416 S. Washtenaw Ave. in the Gage Park neighborhood. He is now the source of an international manhunt, after being charged in a criminal complaint in 2008 with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Sanchez is believed to have fled the state Illinois in August 2003, shortly after being charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, the release said. Police linked Sanchez to the sexual assaults of the three children.
Bond was arrested and initially held without bond in the case. But a judge later set a bond, and Sanchez was released. But he failed to appear at his next court hearing and has not been seen since, the FBI said.
Sanchez is a Hispanic male, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
There is no indication of where authorities believe Sanchez might be.
Anyone recognizing Sanchez or having information as to his current whereabouts should call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
