Feds: 'Mummy Bandit' On Bank-Robbery Spree
(CBS) – The robber who knocked over a TCF branch bank in a North Center Jewel over the weekend – a suspect wanted in connection with at least four other bank robberies – has been dubbed "The Mummy Bandit" by federal officials.
The FBI on Monday posted bizarre surveillance photographs that show a male suspect, his face wrapped in medical gauze, robbing the TCF at 4250 N. Lincoln Ave. Nobody was injured in the robbery and the man did not display or imply that he had a weapon, Chicago police said.
He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
FBI officials say the same suspect, in various disguises and sometimes carrying toys or objects, robbed the North Community Bank at 4701 N. Clark on Dec. 20, 2012 and on Feb. 1, 2013; the North Community Bank at 1555 N. Damen Ave. on Feb. 22; and the North Community Bank, 2000 W. Division St., on March 5.
