FBI Asks For Public's Help In Finding 'Carrot Top' Bank Robber
ORLAND PARK, Ill. (STMW) - The FBI and Orland Park police are asking for the public's help in identifying the two men responsible for the armed robbery of a bank in the southwest suburb last month.
The robbery took place at about 4 p.m. on Oct. 7 when a lone robber entered the Chase Bank branch at 13211 S. LaGrange Rd. and approached the manager, according to a release from the FBI.
The robber, armed with a hammer, ordered the manager to take him behind the teller counter, where he forced employees to open the vault. He then ordered employees to fill a backpack with cash, asking for larger-denomination bills first.
Before fleeing, the robber ordered employees to remain in the vault area and not summon police, threatening them with harm if his instructions were not followed.
Witnesses saw the robber flee the bank and enter the passenger side of a waiting older model black Chevrolet Cavalier Z 24 with no license plates, according to the FBI.
The robber was described as a white man, 20 to 25, between 6 feet and 6-foot-3 with a medium build. He was wearing a light-colored baseball cap with what witnesses described as an orange wig. The driver of the getaway car was described as a white man between 30 and 35 with a heavy build, thinning black hair and scruffy beard.
