Favre Leaves Game After Being Drilled By Wootton
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Brett Favre's surprise start on a snowy night was interrupted by a hard hit to his head that had him wincing as he walked slowly off the field.
The Vikings said Favre had a head injury and that his return was doubtful.
Minnesota's 41-year-old quarterback was playing Monday with a sprained right shoulder. He was taken down in the second quarter by Bears defensive end Corey Wootton, who grabbed Favre by the left shoulder and slammed him to the cold turf. Favre's helmet bounced against the ground, and he stayed motionless for a few seconds before slowly rising and walking off with his head hung down.
Favre's face was streaked with material from the artificial surface. He winced on the sideline as he put a jacket on.
