Father In Custody For Murder Of Infant
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The father of a 3-month-old Washington Heights boy who died Sunday has been arrested in connection with the infant's death, police said.
Tayshaun Dyson's grandmother called 911 last Thursday afternoon after she found him lying unresponsive on a couch at home in the 1100 block West of 88th Street, police said.
She performed CPR on the baby until the Fire Department arrived and took him to Little Company of Mary Hospital.
Tayshaun was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died Sunday at 8:16 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy Tuesday ruled the cause of death was a closed head injury and child abuse, and the death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
The boy's 19-year-old father was arrested Thursday afternoon and charges are pending, police said.
DCFS is also investigating allegations of abuse against the father, spokesman Dave Clarkin said Monday.
DCFS has had no prior contact with the family, and there are no siblings in the home, he said.
