Far South Side Woman Raped, With Her Child Sleeping In Next Room
(CBS) – Raped and robbed in her Far South Side home while her child slept in the next room.
CBS 2's Audrina Bigos reports on the survivor's powerful message.
Three men broke into Monique Isaiah's Rosemoor home earlier this week. They came in through a window and went to her bedroom, first demanding her smart phone.
Isaiah says one of the men appeared to have a weapon. Her three-year-old child was just a few feet away, sleeping in the next room.
One of the men demanded sex. When she refused, he said, "I'm going to count to five, and if you don't do what I want you to do I'm going to shoot you."
"What could I do?" Isaiah says.
Marilyn Fisher lives across the street. She says someone broke into her home and stole her car last month.
"I still sleep with my lights on," she says.
These women have a message: Stop what they're doing.
"How did they get here? What are we going to do to get them out before they kill us and each other in the process?" Isaiah says.
Chicago police say no suspects are in custody.
