Fans React To Donald Sterling's Lifetime Ban
CHICAGO (CBS) -- NBA Commissioner Adam Silver handed a lifetime ban to Clipper's Owner Donald Sterling in wake of his alleged racist comments.
WBBM's Bob Roberts spoke with fans at the Chicago Bulls' playoff game against the Washington Wizards Tuesday.
Shawn, a Bulls fan from Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver did what he had to do in the Clippers situation.
"I think the remarks were stupid. The penalties are strong but I think the NBA has to take a stand against that," he said.
Vince Smith came to the United Center from Fort, Worth Texas. He says Donald Sterling has made millions off of African-American players and coaches. He said anything less than the maximum would have ridiculous.
"I'm happy with the way that the league has responded so quickly. I think that he should definitely be banned. I know they gave him the maximum fine, I wish it was more," said Smith.
Smith said NBA owners would be smart to want nothing further to do with Sterling and to force him to sell the Clippers. Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf issued a statement indicating that is exactly how he would vote.
