Family Sues Over Nanny Who Shook, Choked 15-Month-Old Girl
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A lawsuit has been filed in connection with the abuse of a 15-month-old girl by the nanny hired to look after the child.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bob Conway reports, the nanny, Andrea Aguilar of the 2600 block of West Berwyn Avenue, was caught by a hidden camera choking and shaking the girl in February of 2011 and sentenced to six months in jail, 30 months probation and ordered to attend anger management classes.

Now, the child's parents, Jeremy Coram and Shadia Atiyeh, are suing Rosalie Shore, who owns Accredited Domestics Agency. The agency hired Aguilar and assigned her to their home, and the parents are charging negligence and fraud for not adequately screening her.
The parents say they and the girl have experienced lingering psychological effects. They have both suffered from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of seeing the video of the abuse, according to the suit.
The family also says their daughter suffered bruises and became increasingly withdrawn during the months Aguilar cared for her, according to the suit. She now suffers panic attacks and night terrors, the lawsuit said.
On a Web site for Accredited Domestics Agency, Shore states that she has operated the business, referring nannies and housekeepers to Chicago-area families for 19-years.
"Our job is to make your life easier by making this process as stress free as possible so you can have more time for your family. All the nannies we work with are thoroughly screened," the website states.
The nine count suit claims negligence and fraud, amongst others, and seeks at least $450,000 in damages.
