Family Of Teen Michael Elam Jr., Who Was Killed By Police, Plans To File Federal Lawsuit Thursday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The family of 17-year-old Michael Elam Jr., who was shot and killed by a Chicago police officer in February of this year plans to file a federal lawsuit Thursday.
The family says he was shot multiple times in the back and was unarmed.
The Chicago Police Department, at least initially, contradicted that, saying weapons were recovered.
Elam's family is being represented by the attorney who represented the family of Laquan McDonald.
