Family Of Missing Son Start Rescue Foundation To Help Others
(CBS) -- It has been almost four years since a 28-year-old psychology student from Highland Park vanished in Costa Rica, and now his parents are starting a foundation to help people find loved ones who disappear in other countries.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports.
"David is our son. To us, he's the best person in the world."
Roma Gimelfarb is the father of David Gimelfarb, who went hiking in a Costa Rican forest Aug. 11, 2009, and disappeared.
Family Of Missing Son Reach Out
"We never stopped looking for him. It's now our life."
David's father and mother have made at least a dozen trips to Costa Rica in the past four years.
They have been frustrated by what they say is the lack of help by the U.S. government.
"We send soldiers around the world to fight for somebody. And here, we don't do anything for people we know where they might be."
And so they're starting the David Gimelfarb International Rescue Resources Foundation to help other families find their loved ones who have gone abroad--and gone missing.
