Family Brings Home Man With 5 Days To Live
MONTGOMERY, Ill. (CBS) -- There is nothing like the bond of a family, and one west suburban family is proof positive of that.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, Andy Zepeda Jr. , 44, recently got word that he had just days to live. The Aurora Beacon-news reports he fell from a ladder and cracked some ribs in December, while hanging Christmas decorations at the Palm Springs, Calif., hotel where he works.

The Beacon News reports Zepeda didn't see a doctor until recently, and was told he wasn't getting any better because his liver was failing. He was given only five days to live, Beacon News columnist Denise Crosby wrote.
Family members in far west suburban Montgomery saw to it that Zepeda was going to be with him at the end. His parents flew to Palm Springs and he asked them to take him home, but doctors said he could not get on a plane and fly, the Beacon News reported.
Zepeda's parents couldn't make the drive, so three siblings and a cousin rented a van and drove nearly a day and a half straight from California. They brought along an air mattress and pain medication to make the drive easier on Zepeda, the Beacon News reported.
Now, a very weak Zepeda is on hospice at home.
