Fall Out Boy To Perform At Wrigley Before Cubs-Cardinals Opener
(CBS) Opening Night's becoming an even bigger showcase for the Cubs.
The rock band Fall Out Boy will perform as part of the festivities prior to the Cubs-Cardinals game on evening of April 5 at Wrigley Field, which marks the first MLB game of the season. In the first ever live musical act prior to an MLB Opening Night game, Fall Out Boy -- which hails from Chicago -- will play three songs on the field.
Fall Out Boy will perform "Centuries," "Uma Thurman" and "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'em up)."
"Wrigley Field has always been a magical place to me," said Pete Wentz, the band's bassist. "In some ways I can chart milestones of my life and growing up there – from going to see Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg play, to going with the my dad to the one of the first night games they ever had there, to the first time I took the 'L' there on my own for a game with my friends. When our band all lived in an apartment together in Roscoe Village, we used to pass out fliers for shows at the Metro after games. It has been a lifetime dream to get the chance to play at Wrigley Field. We are grateful to MLB for the opportunity and so excited to perform for our hometown crowd."
Gates at Wrigley Field will now open at 4:35 p.m. on April 5.
