Fake Utility Worker Steals $19,000 In Jewelry In Buffalo Grove
BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (CBS) -- Buffalo Grove police say a man impersonated a utility officer to steal $19,000 in jewelry from a resident.
As WBBM Newsradio's Brandis Friedman reports, Buffalo Grove police say the suspect approached a homeowner in the 100 block of Willow Parkway as she was coming home.

He said he had to check the water pressure in the house.
The man came inside and pretended like he was checking the pipes. He also ran water and ice through the garbage disposal for about 10 minutes, police said.
He then told the resident that he needed to get some tools and left through the garage.
When she resident did not see a van or vehicle she got suspicious and called 911. The officer checked the house and found the jewelry cabinet had been opened -- the resident said five rings -- with a value of approximately $19,000 -- were missing.
The man posing as the worker was described as a Hispanic male, five-foot-seven, with a thin build. He was wearing dark pants with a white stripe on them, a black jacket and also had gloves on.
