'Fake' Mayor Emanuel Drops In On Real Rahm's Inaugural
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Aside from the Chicago who's-who at Rahm Emanuel's inaugural, the man who famously parodied Mayor Emanuel on Twitter was spotted at Millennium Park.
Columbia College professor Dan Sinker (@dansinker on Twitter), was in the media area tweeting about the changing of the guard at city hall, commenting about the potential for a new day in Chicago politics:
Sinker, a.k.a. the Fake Rahm Emanuel, was the author of the Twitter page @mayoremanuel.
It spun an inspired tale of profanity and hilarity during Emanuel run for mayor. Main characters included an incredibly over-caffeinated, hyper-driven and profane Rahm Emanuel, his political guru, David Axelrod, Carl the Intern and a duck named Quaxelrod.
The story took fans on Rahm's campaign to every [bleeping] L stop in the city and wild drives in Axelrod's beat up Honda Civic. Mayor Daley even made an appearance as he kidnapped the future mayor and took him on a tour of City Hall to reveal deep dark secrets hidden there.
The story on Twitter ended at the peak of its popularity, with more than 38,000 followers the day after Emanuel was elected, as the fake Rahm vanished into a time vortex.
On Monday, Sinker stood alone behind the phalanx of cameras, reporters and producers, quietly posting updates. Or perhaps, plotting a comeback...
