Facility To Protect Women From Prostitution
CHICAGO (WBBM) - A new effort is underway in Chicago, aimed at steering vulnerable young women away from prostitution.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bob Conway reports, the new residential facility, called Anne's House, opens next week.

The facility will provide an escape from the streets for eight females, ages 12 to 21.
The Salvation Army is operating the facility, which was designed in part based upon input from young women steered into prostitution after becoming runaways, drug abusers, or victims of abuse.
A recent study estimated that on any given day, there might be as many as 16,000 young people involved in the sex trade in Chicago.
At the facility, caseworkers, counselors and therapists will try to address the trauma the girls have experienced. Life-skills training, and school or vocational training, will also be part of the program.
