Extra-Alarm Fire Rips Through Auburn-Gresham Building
CHICAGO (CBS) -- There were some dicey moments overnight for Chicago firefighters who battled a blaze in an Auburn-Gresham neighborhood building.
A still-and-box alarm was raised around 12:15 a.m. Friday after the fire broke out at 2125 W. 79th St., at the intersection with Hamilton Avenue.
The fire quickly spread and the roof collapsed, prompting the Fire Department to raise the alarm to a 2-11.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in a little over an hour. No one was injured, the Fire Department said.
