Expert: Jail Breakers Can't Stay Off Radar For Long
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A former federal prosecutor, who is now a security consultant, believes it's going to be hard for two bank robbers who escaped custody yesterday to stay under the radar and not be caught eventually.
Security Expert: They Will Be Caught
Jeff Cramer is a former assistant U.S. attorney who now heads the Chicago office of the security firm Knoll Advisory Solutions.
He couldn't believe 38-year old Joseph Banks and 37-year old Kenneth Conley rappelled down the side of the federal jail to freedom yesterday.
"Anyone who's familiar with that building was surprised," says Cramer.
That's because, he says, there are several layers of security at the Metropolitan Correctional Center for prisoners and visitors alike.
"It's not an easy place to get in to. Even though this incident happened, it's an extremely difficult place to get out of," said Cramer.
Despite the possibility that Banks may have access to $500,000 in cash from his bank robberies, Cramer says, "Sooner or later they're going to get caught and then we'll learn how they did it."
