Ex-Bear Eyes Top Political Office In Romeoville
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (AP) – The southwest suburb of Romeoville could get the nickname "Mongoville," if an ex-Bear's political aspirations come to pass.
Steve McMichael, who was a fan favorite as a member of Super Bowl-winning Chicago Bears, wants to add the word "mayor" to his resume.
McMichael tells the Chicago Sun-Times he plans to run for mayor in Romeoville, where he's co-owner of Mongo McMichael's sports bar.
McMichael moved to the village in April. He says was prompted to run by his desire to help the district where his 4-year-old daughter will attend school and conversations he's had with customers at his sports bar. It will be his first time running for office.
McMichael discounts his lack of political experience, saying he didn't have any experience at professional football before he played or wrestling before he tried that and he was successful at both.
