Evanston To Launch 311 Phone, Web Service

EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) - The city of Evanston is setting up a one-stop-shop for all non-emergency questions and requests for city services with the launch of its 311 center on Tuesday.

The Evanston 311 Center will be the fourth such system in the state of Illinois, according to a release from the north suburb.

In addition to the phone number, residents can go to the city's website, www.cityofevanston.org/311 for city services. The official launch will come Tuesday at a press conference at the Evanston Fire Department Administrative Building, 909 Lake St. in Evanston.

The goal of this initiative is to improve customer service citywide by providing a simple to remember phone number for all non-emergency city services; providing 24/7 access to city information through a web portal that will allow citizens to submit requests for service, ask questions, and track the status of their open requests; improving accessibility of city services to all constituents via phone and Internet, and improving staff accountability in providing non-emergency services to constituents, the city says.
