Evanston Spa Workers Busted For Prostitution

EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) -- Two workers at a massage parlor in Evanston have been charged with prostitution.

Responding to complaints of "illegal sexual conduct," Evanston police began an undercover investigation at the Carnation Spa, at 1239 Chicago Ave. just south of Dempster Street.

Undercover detectives went to the spa posing as customers, and determined that staffers at the massage parlor were having "inappropriate physical conduct" with customers, police said.

Evanston police did not go into further specifics. But a review of the Carnation Spa appears on the Web site USASexGude.info, on which a customer reported asking for, and receiving, a sex act from an employee for an extra fee following a massage.

Angel Zijun Ho, 44, of the 5600 block of North Winthrop Avenue; and Jian Ping Yao, 48, of the 2400 block of West Howard Street, were each charged with one count of prostitution. They were arrested on Friday, and are both set to appear in the Skokie Courthouse at 1:30 p.m. April 28.

The spa is located in a busy area just south of downtown Evanston. The spa shares the block with such popular and high-traffic venues as the SPACE live concert venue and the Union Pizzeria.
