ESPN's Skip Bayless Lied About His HS Basketball Career
(WSCR) In one of his Twitter rants last week, ESPN analyst Skip Bayless may have said too much.
Bayless was ranting about how Russell Westbrook isn't a true point. He tried to make his point more credible by tweeting "FYI: I started for high school team that lost in state finals. Coach didn't like me b/c I shot too much and he wanted me to be more PG. ... Tall for age in 9th grade, chosen MVP of state-wide basketball camp over several future D1 players..."
Here's the problem with Skip's story of his high school playing days: after some journalistic work by the people at TheLostOgle.com, it appears Bayless scored a grand total of 21 points in 15 games as the "starting" point guard for the 1970 state runner-up. That averages out to 1.4 points per game.
