Epstein: Decision On Quade To Come Within A Week
(CBS) Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein said Tuesday a decision on manager Mike Quade will be made within a week.
Speaking at a press conference to introduce new general manager Jed Hoyer and scouting director Jason McLeod, Epstein said he and Hoyer met with Quade last week for six or seven hours.
"It was good meeting and a thorough meeting," Epstein said. "We have a lot to process and we are going to speak again."
The fact that Epstein and Hoyer talked to Quade for so long and are going to meet with him again suggests that they are seriously considering keeping the manager around for the last year of his contract. Of course, Quade could also be let go in the second meeting.
Either way, a decision will be made quickly because if the Cubs are going to hire a new manager, they will need to start the process soon.
