Engblom: 'Seamless' Transition For Campoli
As the Chicago Blackhawks make their push for the playoffs, they'll need big contributions from their core players. But their also getting a big contribution from a player who started the season on a different roster.
"To be honest, I'm quite surprised at how well [Chris] Campoli is playing," VERSUS hockey analyst Brian Engblom said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "I figured Chicago, at the deadline, was looking for a defenseman with some experience, I just didn't expect it to be Chris Campoli. And I kind of went 'hmm OK, we'll see how that goes.' Well it's going pretty darn well. I kept watching [Monday night] going 'jeez, there's 14 again.' Offensively, he was up in the zone right by the Detroit net several times and then he got back and made terrific plays, moving the puck very well."

The Blackhawks sent Ryan Potulny and a conditional second round pick to Ottawa in exchange for Campoli. In his 12 games with the team, he's recorded five points (one goal and four assist) and has a plus-five rating.
"He has good feet, he manages the puck well," Engblom said. "This team and his style just seem to mesh really well. It's good on him, no doubt. He's put the effort in and it has looked like a very seamless transition, which was really important for the 'Hawks, in the situation they're in with injuries on the back line. So good on him, Campoli has played very well."
On Tuesday, Campoli and the Blackhawks will travel to Boston for a game agaisnt the Bruins, a day after beating the rival Detroit Red Wings in overtime.
