Police have not said whether a robbery attempt was involved.

Glenwood police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force remained at the scene at 10 p.m. Investigators were looking at the strip mall's parking lot where the liquor store is located and going to nearby businesses and homes with flashlights.

Police were also seen reviewing surveillance video from a nearby business. They were trying to determine what played out when the shooter ran out of the liquor store after the shooting inside.

"Me and my nephew both kind of stuck our head out and walked out on to the porch and I saw a young gentleman that was leaving the store, kind of had a desperate look on his face," said Joe Clark, who witnessed the aftermath of the shooting. "He kind of dropped something. I'm not sure if it was a gun, or gun casing, or whatever."

A memorial outside of the store was set up to remember the store owner, including a sign that read "No More. Stop now." Singh was described as a friendly man who always had a kind word to share.

"I'm just sick because I'm by here three or four times a week," said customer Willie Walters, who added he was "shocked" to learn of Singh's killing.

By around midday on Tuesday, Glenwood police said they had a person of interest in custody, although it was unclear if charges would be filed.
