Emery To Start, But Crawford 'Good To Go'
By Sam Zuba-
UNITED CENTER (CBS) Fear not, Blackhawks fans, goaltender Corey Crawford is ready to return to the ice after he exited Thursday's game in St. Louis after one period.
"Corey is fine," head coach Joel Quenneville said before Friday night's game. "He was here this morning. Ray (Emery) is starting (Friday,) but Corey's backing up."
Quenneville wouldn't say specifically what was ailing Crawford, only offering the goaltender "got through it."
"He didn't seem too bad after the game and he was fine this morning," Quenneville said. "He's good to go."
Back up goaltender Ray Emery took over Thursday night after Crawford's exit. Together, the duo combined to record the Blackhawks' third shutout of the season as the club trounced the Blues, 3-0.
"I think with the goaltending situation, we've got some options," Quenneville said. "They're both playing well. You don't have to keep going with the same guy. It's nice to see Ray not getting the start and jumping right in there and really adding to our team game last night. It was a really solid goaltending contribution from both guys. I think they both could've gone today if they had to."
