Emery: Bears Expect Championship Run
(WSCR) While Bears general manager Phil Emery won't come out and say his goals are championship or bust for the 2012 season, he knows that's exactly what the Bears are capable of.
"This team is a good team," Emery told The Mully and Hanley Show on Monday morning. "It has good NFL talent. It has talent of moving forward, being in the playoffs, being in the mix, striking toward a championships. That's the expectations of the players, coaches and certainly mine and the Bears overall."

Since Emery took over for Jerry Angelo, he has provided the Bears with offensive weapons Brandon Marshall, Michael Bush and Alshon Jeffery, while bolstering the team's defense with first-round draft pick Shea McClellin.
Still, that defense will run through captain Brian Urlacher, who hasn't practiced since July 31. Though the middle linebacker said he'll be ready for the season opener on Sept. 9, the Bears will still be cautious.
"That's a tremendous player, a future Hall of Fame player and a cornerstone guy of our team," Emery said. "(Was I) surprised in the interest (surrounding Urlacher's absence?) Absolutely not. I liked what Brian said. We're going to be careful in the approach. We're working with Brian. It's a day-to-day approach. The most important thing is that he is ready for the season. That's the goal. Again, that'll happen day-by-day."
