Embattled Toronto Mayor Comes To Chicago For Rehab: Reports
(CBS) -- Rob Ford, the larger-than-life Toronto mayor who has wrestled with substance-abuse issues in the public eye, may be seeking help for his problems in Chicago.
Numerous media reports indicate the embattled public official flew to Chicago's Midway Airport from Canada Thursday morning.
Ford, who seeks re-election, took a leave of absence earlier this week to seek treatment for substance abuse, according to his lawyer, CBS News reports. The announcement came amid reports that another video has surfaced showing Ford smoking what some speculate is crack.
The Canadian official -- considered an embarrassment at home, but a curiosity elsewhere -- has family and business ties in the Chicago area. His brother, Doug, has a second home here.
"I love my brother. I'll continue to stand by my brother," an emotional Doug Ford told reporters.
It's possible Rob Ford was travelling to an additional destination after arriving in Chicago.
