CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he like some parts of the Chicago Cubs plans to refurbish Wrigley Field, but he's not ready to give his blessing to a deal just yet.
Emanuel On Wrigley Field Renovations
The mayor said he is happy the Cubs' owners finally heard his emphatic 'No' on any public funding for Wrigley Field renovations.
"We are at a point where there will be no taxpayer subsidies for a private entity," the mayor said. "That said, Wrigley is important to the neighborhood and to the city, or at least part of the city that likes to go there."
The mayor said he understands the economic importance of Wrigley and said he was pleased the team plans to build a hotel next to the park.
The mayor said there will be no deal until other issues are settled, including the number of night games, concerts and plans for new signage.
