Mayor Emanuel said it will be bad if Democrats and Republicans fail to reach an compromise and bring on the mandatory spending limits.
"These are, in my view, foolish cuts," said Emanuel.
The mayor said security screeners will be cut back at O'Hare and other transportation would be effected. People going shopping will feel the effects.
"What is reliability when a mother or a father or somebody else shows up at a grocery store? We all assume food safety. Well, there is an inspector ensuring that food safety. So from O'Hare to our manufacturing in our food area, you are going to find out how important the security and safety comes from the federal government," said Emanuel.
