Emanuel, Quinn And Panetta Mark Memorial Day With Parade And Wreath Laying
CHICGAO (CBS) -- Mayor Emanuel, Governor Quinn, and the former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta led the way as Chicago marked Memorial Day with a parade down State Street.
WBBM's Bob Roberts reports that, beforehand, they participated in a wreath laying ceremony in Daley Plaza.
Former Defense Secretary and CIA Chief Leon Panetta said the toughest part of both jobs was to write the families of those who died serving the nation.

"The proudest moments I had was to go to the battle fields and Iraq and Afghanistan, and meet soldiers and marines, the airmen, meet with our navy, men and women who are out there, my own son," said Panetta.
Panetta's son is serving in Afghanistan. He says the U.S. military is the best equipped in the world, but he says it is worth nothing without the skill and devotion of the troops.
