Emanuel Joins Business Executives At Sun Valley, Idaho, Conference
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel is spending the day at an exclusive gathering in Sun Valley, Idaho, with some of the most powerful business executives in the country.
As WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports, Mayor Emanuel is at the prestigious Allen & Company Media and Technology Conference in Sun Valley.
Newscorp Chairman Rupert Murdoch, Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook, and Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg are among those attending. And for his part, Mayor Emanuel will be matched up against outspoken New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
"There's about 400 of the top CEOs from all over the country. They invited me to speak," the mayor said. "I'm doing a panel moderated by George Stephanopoulos, and Christie is on the other side."
Emanuel will talk about what government can do to improve economic opportunities.
The conference also gives the mayor a chance to buttonhole powerful CEOs, in the effort to try to drum up more jobs and businesses from Chicago.
