Emanuel: Hosting Big Ten Basketball Championship Will Be An Honor
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel is pleased that Chicago will play host to two Big Ten Men's Basketball championship tournaments in the coming years.
The men's championship games will come to the United Center in 2013 and 2015. The women's games will be played at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.
"As one of the most exciting and competitive sports meccas in the world, our city welcomes the Championship back," Emanuel said in the statement. "Chicago's people, businesses, neighborhoods and economy continue to benefit from visitors coming from across the nation and the globe to enjoy our sports, culture, restaurants and recreation."
Indianapolis will host the men's and women's tournaments in 2012, 2014 and 2016. That city has hosted the men's and women's tournaments for the past four years.
The Big Ten championship football game will be held in Indianapolis through at least 2015.
