Emanuel Appears Supportive Of Plan To Add Elevated Patio To Wrigley
Although the City Council has approved a $500 million renovation plan for Wrigley Field, a new idea has been pitched: An elevated patio that stretches over Sheffield Avenue on the ballpark's east side.
By moving a 650 foot illuminated sign back to the deck's edge, rooftop owners can keep their lucrative views.
"It was brought up towards the end. It is too soon to have it shoe-horned in to the planned development," said Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Emanuel says it is one thing the Ricketts family and the club owners agree on, but the neighborhood still has to weigh in.
"The right way to do this and what we all agreed to was the alderman is going to run a community process," said Emanuel.
The Mayor says the two parties have been instructed by his office and the Council to keep the conversations going to avoid lawsuits from the rooftop owners.
